10-21-07 Don Corey passes ...

Don, one of the earliest DJ's on legendary KSHE/FM95, suffered a fatal heart attack at his home in Webster Groves this afternoon.

Don was 58 and is survived by his wife Kathy, his daughter Heather and two stepdaughters and four grandchildren. Don was a member of the congregation at St. Michael's in Shrewsbury, as is Kathy.

Don was profiled in 2003 in the STL Journalism Review. In recent years, Corey had worked in videography and analog-to-digital conversion and had just finished his book on his radio experience.

I had the honor of working with Don on his website and, over the years, getting to know him as someone I was proud to think of as a friend. He was a true gentleman in every meaning of the word, one of the good guys and he will be sorely missed.

Don Corey: 12 November, 1949 - 21 October, 2007

This website will remain in place as long as Kathy wants it online.

Don Corey's book published ...

Don, a former DJ for KSHE/95 in the '70's who passed away last October, wrote Are You Talking To Me? and was working on the final galley proofs at the time of his death.

His wife Kathy has guided it to publication.

Are You Talking To Me? is available online at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

This is much more than just a journal of radio experience; it's a well-written, impressive look at what brought Don to radio and why he moved on to another career.

The book's premiere will be at the Webster Library, March 1st 2007 at 2PM; Don's wife, Kathy, will be signing copies and Mark Klose of KHTS/96 and others will do readings.
